Moraine Creek Alaska

Flowing 15 miles from Spectacle Lake to Kukaklek Lake and located
in Katmai National Preserve, Moraine Creek
is perhaps the premier
trophy rainbow trout fishery in Alaska for "really big" rainbows. We are
talking about fish in the eight to twelve plus pound class. For the
adventurer Moraine Creek is among the best locations to view, photograph
and admire Alaska's Magnificent Brown Bear in their natural habitat.moraine creek alaska bear viewing

Moraine Creek Alaska Bear Viewing ~ Photography

Moraine Creek Alaska Bear Viewing AlaskaIt is no wonder that the best Alaska bear viewing of the year co-insides with the return of sockeye salmon to Moraine Creek. Some years over two million sockeye salmon can return to the watershed that Moraine Creek is a part of. This remarkable influx of high protein, fat rich salmon is why Alaska's Brown Bears are here and is the perfect food source that the bears need to pack on the many pounds necessary to make it through an Alaskan winter. With all the sockeye salmon and rainbow trout of trophy proportions available, our Moraine Creek bear viewing & photography trips also great place for those inclined to wet a line while on the river to do a little fishing.moraine creek alaska wildlife viewing

Moraine Creek Alaska - Fly Fishing  & Trophy Trout

All of the usual subjects were present, that is the sockeye salmon, rainbow trout, bears and people. Yes, you read that right I said people, there were times it seemed that even on this remote wilderness stream that every well known fishing hole had four or more anglers in it and on other days the Moraine appeared to be what it truly is, a small wilderness stream far from any roads that can be fished with no one around at all. Of course it helps that when you are on a float trip you and your fellow angler’s are already on the river before and after the planes from the lodges have come and gone for the day, you can even move to a prime spot and be there fishing first thing in the morning. While you never really know what you will get as far as the number of other people you will see on the Moraine, but you can be assured that the opportunity to cast a line to a rainbow trout you spotted that may go over 30 inches is higher here then maybe anyplace in the world. moraine creek alaska, wildlife viewing bear viewing fishing
